Christian Legeais —
Once again, these results are proclaimed as « the popular will » and the expression of a democratic process.
Most certainly change was necessary, especially to get the Liberals out, and that demand resonated across Quebec, resulting in a Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) majority government.
This CAQ government will do nothing new or better than the previous Liberal government.
What Legault promises is an « effective » government that « has both feet on the ground » and is « able to meet the challenges. » Nothing is said about what these challenges are. This is nothing other than the pursuit and continuation of the anti-social offensive under a veneer of « governing for all Quebeckers. »
The election results are not an expression of « the popular will. » They express no more than the aspiration for change within the context of the elections.
